Members of the Papua New Guinea Mas Oyama Kyokushin Karate Association (PNGMOKKA) who were selected as part of the NCD Karate team have withdrawn and will not be going to the PNG Games in Kokopo in November.

According to Sempai Silas Piskaut, the club will concentrate on their next grading in September. He said they would also start training to compete in the coming championships hosted by the PNG Karate-do Federation (PNGKF). Piskaut also hinted at the possibility of hosting a Kyokushin tournament next year.

The Kyokushin karatekas named in the NCD team were Bernard Sinai, Alfreda Kurabi and Piskaut. Sinai and Kurabi were listed to fight under the 74kg full contact division for the males and females respectively while Piskaut would take on the under 64kg.

Piskaut and Kurabi were also named for the tameshiwari (breaking) and point contact kumité.
